Oh come on now, where is your sense of adventure. I would suspect most of the corroded parts could be fairly easily cleaned up. I would look at wiping it down with CLP. As I have found it works wonders removing corrosion and grime.

As for a power supply. I have no idea. I do know a Sigs vet who maybe able to help but he is 93 years old.

Disassemble it as best you can while still being able to put it all back together. Oil, stiff nylon brush and fine steel wool are probably all you need to get started. I have a Dremel rotary tool with a variety of wire and nylon brushes that I like to use on these types of projects as well since it's fairly gentle and and a bit less labour intensive. I can see a reference to a battery on the front panel on the right side so that would be your power source.

CLP is CLP22, produced by Sentinel Canada based in  Montreal. They are a manufacturer of Lubricants and chemicals.

I like it for use on just about everything metal. I used it to free up sticky door latches and lubricate hinges. I also use it to wipe down my rifles before I store them. It has the lubricating properties of an oil, with the penetration properties of liquid wrench or WD-40.

Here is the link to their web page.... http://www.sentinelcanada.com/html/home.htm

Here is their sales pitch on CLP22.

CLP 22 (Cleaner, Lubricant, and Preservative)
    for Weapons and Weapons Systems
    (MIL-PRF-63460)

CLP 22 is a highly penetrating liquid lubricant especially formulated to combine in one product the functions of cleaning, lubricating and preserving handheld weapons of all caliber. CLP 22 is also suited for various industrial applications.

CLP 22 contains selected additives providing effective removal of built-up dirt, corrosion particles and firing residues usually considered as abrasive to recoil and gas operating systems. The product has also the ability to form a preservative film layer on cleaned surfaces displacing water and ensuring outstanding protection against corrosion, rust and dirt.

This unique formulation uses the most advanced technology additives providing outstanding film strength and anti-wear properties, reducing friction between moving parts and build-up of wear debris.

Effectiveness of CLP 22 has been proven not only as ordnance use but also in a wide variety of applications, including automotive, aviation, marine, and general plant maintenance of industrial equipment.

CLP 22 is formulated to meet the requirements of cleaning, lubricating and preserving small and large caliber weapons under severe climate conditions from -65°F to +150°F. Contains no ozone depleting compounds.

CLP 22 meets all requirements of Military Specification MIL-PRF-63460D, Amd 6.

Here is thier pitch for SENT CLP.

SENT CLP (Cleaner, Lubricant and Preservative)
    For Weapons and Weapons systems
    (MIL-PRF-63460)

SENT CLP is a highly penetrating, mobile liquid lubricant which combines three essential functions in a single product: Cleaning, Lubrication and Preservation of handheld weapons, and weapons systems of both large and small caliber.

SENT CLP provides additives which in addition to their ability to penetrate between metal surfaces, aids in the effective removal of built up dirt, corrosion particles and firing residues which can be abrasive to both recoil and gas operated mechanisms.

After cleaning, a thin-film layer of preservative forms immediately on the surface which not only displaces water but provides a corrosion resistant barrier against rust and dirt.

Just a guess based on experience with field phones... the switchboard can operate off of the internal battery or an external battery but it's unlikely that it requires both. The old TA43 field phones were normally used in the field with the two internal D cell batteries but if the phone was set up in a more permanent position such as a command post it could be powered by an external power source. I suspect this is the same for your switchboard.
