WWI Overseas Stripes Empty WWI Overseas Stripes

    Post by CDN16thScottish Thu Aug 15, 2013 6:24 am

Looking for original or repo WWI overseas stripes.  My gandfather enlisted in 1915 and discharged 1919, not sure how many I need and if he should receive the red one.  I live in Oregon in the USA.  I bought a repo tunic and trying to put it all together.  Thanks for any help, Ken

Sorry, Canadian, he was 16th Cdn Scottish, and also a scout.  I have a very interesting photo of him with the scout badge just below his good conduct stripe.  I had a hard time finding that one, but have it now.  If he enlisted in 1915 and was discharged in 1919, how many overseas stripes would he be entitled to?
    Thanks for any help, Ken

Hi Ken, The regulations stated that the red chevron was awarded for service on or before December 31, 1914. Subsequent chevrons were blue, for each twelve months service away from Canada. So, it sounds like he would be entitled to four blue chevrons.
