a gift

Here is a few pics of a nice gift I received from my mother. Which might have a military connection. In the late 50's and early 60's she worked with the Navy League, and Sea Cadets. She can't remember where she got it (she just turned 88). My brother and sisters think that she got then. At first i thought that some one had made it, because of the sewing, until I turned it over and saw that it was manufactured in Peterborough.

As Peterborough Ontario is home to my father, I get there quite often. I have seen other flags from this company in the past. IIRC there is also a J.J. Turner building in Peterborough.

I do like this example for sure, mainly due to the manufacturer. I have a PDF copy of a catalog from this  company. It is dated 1920, here is the site I downloaded it from.

The ensign with the green leaves was in use from 1921-57. In 1957 the leaves were changed to red to the dismay of many. The common complaint was that people didn't understand why the government would want to put dead leaves on the flag. Also, in 1957 the harp lost it's female form.

Gifting is the best way to receive this type of thing...Awesome!
