I just picked up a few and they have oil/gas remnants. As I would like to have these for display, does anyone know a good way to rid the gas/oil from them? Thanks guys!

swill them inside with some fresh gas, do they have internal breather pipes? perhaps you could add some small pebbles to help loosen any stuff,

Dale you are terrible LMAO. As stated, you can use fresh gas in them, with pebbles to break up any sludge. After drained, use hot water and dawn dish soap, swill for quite awhile (1/2 hour or so) and repeat as needed. Then leave them open to dry out. Check for a smell afterwards, but you should be ok.

If the mild soap doesn't work, try and swish it out with some acetone. That will remove any sludge along with any gasoline or oil residue. Then rinse it with a strong soap like TSP (trisodium phosphate). Follow that up with a hot water rinse. This is the procedure I use before repairing a gas tank, to make sure there are no vapors left.
