Hello, I live in Prince Rupert, Canada's only other mainland port city (other than Vancouver) and being so, and being geographically closest to Japan (Not too sure, but I've heard one day shorter sailing for shipping, with modern vessels compared to Van.) it was considered a prime target for japan's attacks, So several defenses were set up around my city from a torpedo armed submarine net, to several artillery batteries and many other things. The sad thing is that if you ask most people around here about the war in this city you will get blank looks, it seems that it is all but forgotten.
But that's where I come in, I (along several others I'm sure) have made it my goal to visit all these places and find out the history before it is gone forever.
I've done a lot of research online, and found a wikipedia page about one of the main fort, Fort Barret or as it's also refereed to as Barrett Point. This page gave me a name, and a loose list of other installments around the city and neighboring areas. but it was quite a while until I found what I believe to be the jackpot, An entire book written on the area, and better yet, the bulk of it was online, for free! Containing a map, Period photos and tonnes of information. {Link to the book}
but I didn't stop at words and pictures, I wanted the real thing so I've trekked out and found some of these buildings burried deep in the thick forests.
here are some photos of what I found

One of the staircases into the underground bunkers (have not ventured into them, because when I was on that trip I lacked the proper safety gear, but I will be going back in the coming weeks so stay tuned!)

Another entrance, As you can see the complex goes a ways down

There were many other buildings I did not get a chance to get decent photographs of (camera died) on that trip, including searchlights and much larger buildings
Those are all at barrett point. I've also located the command post (This one is a little less off the beaten trail)

(Whole album of photos of the upper floor and basement can be seen here at my blog

I've also found some ww2 structures at the seaplane base, but I have no clue what they are/were
Providing links instead of the actual pictures because of size
