I have recently been given my Grandfather's medals, pins etc from his service in WW1 with the Canadian Field Artillery; signed up with 49th Battery, reassigned (?) to 84th Battery then served in France until he was mustard gassed with the 23rd Battery. He was a BQMS when he came back to Canada after being in hospital in England.
I have a couple of Artillery shoulder pins (correct name?) but no cap badge which I'd like to find, and some of these brass King's Crown pins, as well as his sergeant's stripes.
What are the Crowns and were they part of his uniform as BQMS?
