information aboute a thermos lid

Hi guys

i have found this thermos with this stange lid.. it is clearly not is own lid.. but it have the same dimmension






recently, i notice that the canadian MKII thermos have a very similar lid...

I think I've seen this style of lid on ammunition/powder containers for the navy or possibly large guns with separate loading ammunition.

The "Case, Magazine RM Mk III" looks to be similar (this pulled off BOCN).

I have been looking at British equipment but there is the possibility it is American as well.
