Here is a very nice example of a Canadian No.36 M in the collection of the LER museum. It's not common to find examples with most of the original varnish and markings intact.

Fairly decent example, looks similar to an example in my collection. Is this one marked FW made by Frost & Winter out of Chatham Ontario I believe?

F&W= Frost and Woods. No, this one is marked C for Chatco which is the company you are thinking of. I actually have a Montreal Munitions (M) marked example in even better condition than this one but I've posted it before and am just trying to stimulate some discussion.

Frost & Woods, that is it.
What are the yellow numbers do you think? Lot numbers, inspectors number?

IIRC I had read on the British ordnance collector's network that it's a lot number. I will try to find that old thread and confirm.

The Company was FROST & WOOD not woods, they had a large plant in Brantford Ontario, before the war they made Farm inpliments, I have a Tracker Seat made by the same Company.

In the same vein Mills made golf clubs and other out door items before and after WW1

Yes, a mistake on my part and thanks for correcting it. Better to have good info on the forum.

I just had a look at the British ordnance collectors network and everyone is calling the company Frost & Woods.... seems to be a very common mistake.
