    Canadian Machete Empty Canadian Machete

It was my understanding that these were issued to MG crews for clearing brush for clear fields of fire (also billhooks were issued). I have an example that has the C Broad arrow stamped into the black handle and also on the scabbard. Maybe these were part of vehicle kit too? Wouldn't surprize me is they were held as part of Section stores and drawn when required.

Very nice blade! I'm sure these saw some duty in the hedgerows of Normandy.

I recently had a local RCE veteran over for a coffee and to look at my collection room/war room and he pointed out a tool sitting in my US display that he apparently used a lot in Europe, the Woodman's Pal. He said that he acquired in Britain while training with US troops. I have never heard of Canadians using them, and I have not seen many pictures of US soldiers using them either. They are a nifty tool though.
