King's Crown Winnipeg Light Infantry Badge on Irish Caubeen?

Post by LittleBlackDevil on Mon Sep 10, 2018 11:28 pm

Hi I recently came across this on ebay, a Irish Regt. Caubeen with a Winnipeg Light Infantry KC Badge. The Winnipeg Light Infantry wasn't an Irish-Canadian Regt, so not sure why a soldier in the WLI would have an Caubeen? It's from eBay so I don't know if this is just some caubeen with a WLI badge randomly put on, but I wanted to make sure as I have little knowledge on Caubeens, and not sure if they were used in Regiments, even in minor roles, other than the Irish Regiment of Canada. I personally think the badge and the caubeen are put together but I would appreciate any opinions on this one.

    Best regards,

    -Jamie

A put together item I am sure. The only Canadian Regiment to wear the Caubeen is the Irish Regiment of Canada. I suppose it is possible there was a member of the Winnipeg Light Infantry attached to the Irish at some point, this would be the only acceptable situation in my mind.
