WW2 Canadian webbing or British? Empty WW2 Canadian webbing or British?

Post by CanadianBD Mon Dec 10, 2018 4:43 pm

    Hello,
I have been in the market for some ww2 Canadian p37 webbing. I was wondering how you can distinguish a Canadian p37 belt with a British or any other common wealth country. Are there any specific details i should look for? How would i know if its post war?

The short answer would be look for a C Broad Arrow stamp for Canadian webbing. British webbing just has a Broad Arrow. Also Canadian webbing is more of a golden colour than British webbing. As for WW2 or post war most webbing has a date stamp. There is an entire section on Canadian and Commonwealth webbing manufacturers stamps and labels in the Reference Library section of this website. Another reference website is karkeeweb.com F.Y.I. Mike.

Is the belt in the photo the one you are looking to purchase? If it is to me it looks British. Mike.

No this is not the belt, but it is identical to the one i own. I was just curious because I couldn't find much information on it myself. I just noticed that on my belt, the back buckles do not poke out like the one in the posted picture. Is this normal?

All the pattern 1937 web belts I have seen have the back buckles at an angle as in the photo. Maybe your back buckles were added later. Mike.
