The more I see these WWI era badges, the more I like them. Very nice example Darrell!

Can't wait to see your finished theme.

    Hi Bill

Currently I'm concentrating on Medals and Capbadges but do have a couple of other lesser sub-themes too.

Capbadge-wise, you know I've completed the 1945 OOB for the Canadian Armoured Corps so now I'm on WW1 Cdn Cavalry and CMR. Only one repro (RMWMP) but I'm always looking for a real one. I think the hard one will be 16th Light Horse.

Of course it all depends on cash-flow and Xmas really choked that flow off!!

I still managed to add x2 WW1 Medal pairs to 2CMR men recently though. 8)

They are nice looking, eh? I suggest you DON'T collect WW1 Cdn Cavalry or CMR badges just yet............ I'll tell you when!!!

Below is another very recent addition (on the left). The one on the right I've had for some time and actually was the first I got in this theme. It came with a purchase of a 4CMR medal pair.

    Hi Darrell,
Thanks for the info. My grandfather and great uncle were both in the 4 CMRR. They both enlisted in Owen Sound, one in the 147th and the other in the 248th. (No, my grandfather did not have a 248th cap. I think that the badges for that unit were never officially issued. The photos I have seen of him and the group photos of the 248th do not show that pattern of badge.) Both of them had the 4 CMRR pattern badge, as they joined the unit in 1917.
There are quite a few cavalry badges for the CEF period, and there are some really tough ones as you know. The 1st Hussars and the 19th Alberta Dragoons, FWW issue, are very hard to find. It takes a long time to find some of these.

    Hi Bill

That would be Robert Oliver and William Arthur, I suspect. You and I both should do the write-ups for our names on Ian's webpage, eh?

Yup, there will be a couple of tough badges to get, I'm sure. I am not after every variant either. I know there were Cdn made, British made, slider, tangs, lugs or different metal construction versions of just about any CEF badge you care to mention. I am satisfied my 1H and 19AD examples are good though. Good enough for me, that is.

Again, the 16th Light Horse RNWMP seem to me to be the least available since I started looking a few years ago. There was an Officer's version 19AD capbade recently on Ebay but I passed as all the ones in my theme that I do have already are non-commissioned versions.

I'm not worried though. Plenty of time; I can afford to wait..........or rather I am waiting to afford the ones I need. I'm pretty good of saving for what I need until it appears.

........and I have those sub-themes to keep me busy too!! Anyone have an original North Africa 42-43 clasp for the Africa Star they want to part with?

    Be well.

    regards
    Darrell
