All I know it was a pte collins who has this war diary written, He talks of working building trenches with the canadians and praises them at many times. 2 fgge and 3 fgge had baseball and soccer matches and there are alot of descriptions and comments on where the best place to sleep was. the book has dates all except for the year. tells alot of who was wounded where they went to what hospital and who got killed and by what means ie infection, or bullet etc.I can tell you better who got shot where and at what time.

Is there any chance it could be 3FCCE in weird old handwriting?

That would be 3rd Field Company, Canadian Engineers. They formed part of 1st Division's engineers along with the 1st and 2nd companies, which would explain why they had the opportunity to play 2nd Coy at football.

In case you didn't know, 'Winnipeg Avenue' was a trench in the Ypres salient.
