Canadian Mk IIs with Camo nets and covers

A Mk II with the issue bi-colour net and oilcloth scrim (also some recycled net and boot laces).

A Mk II with the Canadian made camo second pattern gas cover (popular with Navy pers on the landing crafts).

Here's another one of the fantastic photographs showing Canadians off Juno Beach on D-Day. Notice the MK IIs with second pattern gas covers and the one painted MK II camo.

If that photo was in colour, I am certain that the painted camo Mk II would be in battleship grey and blue. I saw an amazing RCN painted Mk II a few years ago with a very similar camo pattern (looks like the battleship paint scheme of that time frame) which is extremely similar to the one in the photo. If you look at that photo, you will notice that the owner is wearing a RCN life vest.

I have some M1 collecting buddies who swear up and down that that is a "PTO" camo scheme only...and originally US in origin. They think we stole that camo design :lol:
