Since today I have been involved in the search for the missing private Ernest David Harrison, who was with the Can Scots and went MIA 27/01/1945 after a night patrol. The people who have been on the search longer have done a splendid job in nearly pinpointing the location where he is buried, that is, if he has not been reburied in a grave for an unknown soldier. This is however unlikely, as the area was flooded right after the war.
However, if the authorities do make a dig there, find, and exhume a body, it ofcourse needs to be identified by DNA. Which at the moment might be hard, since we do not yet know of any surviving relatives, or even where he came from. To this end, I am wondering whether or not the WWII attestation papers are available already, and, if they are, where to get them. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
