1st Div WWII head quarters flash?

I have not seen one of these before or seen one referenced. Does any one know if this is a WWII example? Or any more information on this flash?

The only reference that I found about this patch was for a WW1 patch and it's not exactly the same.

I do not accept this as a valid formation patch. Materials and construction are off and there is neither documentation nor photos of this in wear. I state this after having reviewed thousands of pages of Second World War files at Archives and tens of thousands of photos.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion Clive. It does not look correct to me also.

I agree with Clive. There were unofficial patches described for the 1st and 2nd CID early in the war when personnel returned to Canada wearing the same. These drew the ire of officialdom and were not authorized. The one in the auction may be one of these, but again, they were not authorized, either overseas or in Canada.
