Unknown Helmet Net Empty Unknown Helmet Net

    Post by mk1rceme Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:41 pm

I got this net in a grouping of Commonwealth items a while back. So far I've been unable to properly secure it to a helmet...at least any in my collection. It is too small for a MKII, M1, or even a German M40. It is shown on a tanker helmet which it is too small for as well. It has no give or stretch to it, and I'm reluctant to start yanking on it in case it comes apart. The net has 1.5 inch squares...a bit smaller than the US 2 inch nets. The scrim is lightly stitched around the net cord. Guess my question is, is it even a Commonwealth used net? And, would it have been attached to a helmet with clips, wires or lengths of cord?

    Hi Dale,

It looks like the US produced net for the M1, that might of been trimmed around the bottom for some reason? Anyhow, nice looking net.

    Cheers,

My first thought when I saw this net is that it is part of larger vehicle type cam net that was cut out for use as a helmet net. The cord is just heavier than I would expect to see for a purpose made helmet net.

The cord is the same thickness as a US 2" net I have...just smaller squares. I've been told it could possibly be German.

Any possibilities it's a converted fishing net? It's the first thing that popped in my head when I saw this
