Just keep your eys on Kijiji if Hamilton has one...I have picked 10 decent torsos up this way in the past. Only problem with some of the newer ones is that they are too large for most WWI and WWII tunics! I guess no McDonalds in 1939!

This is a good one for Jeff. I can not for the life of me recall the place we went in Toronto down near Spadina Ave. They were used but in good shape overall. Price was fair too.

I have picked up over 40 torso's in the past couple of years and have supplied a few fellow collectors with some. I have some extra's if you are interested.
There was a guy in Hamilton who had over 100 of them left over from Eatons, he was selling them fairly cheap as he was having trouble selling them. He was on Kijiji.
The place Cliff is talking about is The Display Bank in Toronto. If you google that name you will find the website and get phone information and address. They do get in used torso's but the supply is different all the time. The last time I was there they were charging between $30-$50 a torso depending on condition...they don't come with stands at that price.
I have also picked them up at auctions and on ebay. They are out there, you just have to keep looking and be patient..unless you want to buy one of mine.LOL!

You can also try some of the small used clothing stores in your area. I have managed to pick up a couple of full size mannequins this way - they weren't using them and let them go cheap. All you need to do is ask.
    Good luck in the hunt!

    Hi,

I hope this information will be helpful to many. I purchased about a year ago a 5'-10" high mannequin from a supply store in Toronto, these are mannequins manufactured in China and are considerably cheaper than the ones made in North America or Europe. These are nice because they are made smaller to fit smaller lines of clothing, and are PERFECT for most WWII Canadian Battle Dress tunics.

They are still pricey at $200 but worth every penny if you want something that works with your collection. the faces are well done and they are full body. I understand many Federal Government museums now order this model.

I hope it is OK to post this type of information, I have no connection to this company, and only hope this info is of some use to fellow collectors.

    Cheers, Patrick

    Hey Patrick,
Perfectly acceptable to post that info. In fact that's the address of the place I posted about, the display bank. Guess they changed their name, it's been many years since I was there and it's good to hear they are still going.

Ok Great, another thing I have to go to Toronto for. LOL There was a place in Montreal that I found one time on a day trip around the city. Problem is I could not find it again on my next trip and I tried to rely on my memory for the location and name.

Keep an eye on local buy and sell pages on facebook. I just picked up another two cloth covered torso forms with stands for 65 bucks. And the lady delivered them to me. Hell of a deal.
