Veterans Voices of Canada Military Interest and Learning Centre Empty Veterans Voices of Canada Military Interest and Learning Centre

Hey everyone. I've been working on this for awhile, and now it's time to let it loose.

In several weeks,I'm will be approaching the town of Sylvan Lake for a partnership where they would donate space to my organization Veterans Voices of Canada. In the space, I would like to begin a Military Interest and Education Centre where I will have on display quality authentic militaria of all periods and service branches...allied and axis but focussing on allied.I also plan to have a small "theatre" which would show historical documentaries, but mostly show veteran interviews which my organization has documented the over the last eight years(Over 750).It will also like to have an area for military artwork donated by young artists,or artists in general for all to see...not to sell. Here is my question.

Would there be any collectors here or that you would know, that would be willing to proudly show part of their collection in this venue? Instead of having a static display that never changes,I would like to have a display that changes on an irregular basis to make things more interesting to the public. Of course it would be a temporary donation of a length of time to be determined by each collector and my organization Veterans Voices of Canada.

I have quite a collection myself, and I feel it is a shame that only I get to appreciate and enjoy the militarily historic and interesting items. I do have a few collectors already interested as well. Please feel free to discuss and ask as many questions as you like. I will be going forward with this regardless,it would be great to make this all that it can be.

Want to be a part of sharing history while at the same time showing off your collection? This could be the opportunity!

    Cheers!

Excellent idea, I just wanted to commend you for what you are doing. I might be interested in lending some gear. Couple questions for you if I may.

How long will the items be on display? How will the items be displayed? (Will they be behind locked glass)
And how will the items be shipped and possibly insured during shipping and display?

Thank you sir for the interest and kind words!

Firstly, depending on what you display that will decide whether it will be behind "licked" glass or not. The more tasty the item, probably more attempted licks.
    Lol...sorry,had to.
    Wink

But seriously, there will be some sort of security, not sure exactly what yet as I want this to be a different, yet secure setup. Depending on the items interest and appeal to the public,I'd like one month for items to be on "loan" or temporary display.

At this point, collectors would be responsible for insuring their pieces during transit or shipping, with VVOC taking care of the insurance for smaller, more inexpensive pieces while at premises. For more expensive items, that will need to be discussed and decided upon before display takes place. I will be talking to insurers about this soon to find out exactly how I can make that work.
