I recieved this single British War medal named to Norman Arnold Shaughnessy of the Canadian Tank Corps. It was an impulse buy from our favorite online auction eBay. The seller had a BIN amount of $25.00 USD.

So what do you all think? The ribbon is original, however rather grubby and messed up. I am not sure if I can use it for the mounting of this medal.

    Cliff:

$25.00US seems like an exceptionally good price - but I don't collect medals.

I think its an excellent buy, especially named to the Cdn Tank Corps. I thought the tank corps used Trooper instead of Private?

Hi Mike, in WWI they seem to be Private as opposed to Trooper. The Canadian Tank Corps came about in IIRC June or July of 1918. I have been thinking about adding a tank corps BWM to my collection for quite some time. They usually run around 250.00 USD or so on dealers sites.

Ed, with everything else you collect, I am glad you don't collect medals, it leaves me with a fighting chance at a half decent collection. LOL

As a medal collector I have to agree with Brian...... You Stole It...... A fantastic piece, to bad it was not a pair but then again when you research him it may be his only medal......

LOL Jeff, very funny. Tell you what, how about we do an even trade.... this medal, for your stetson. LMAO

I have been looking around online and it appears that British War Medals to the Can tank corps go for around $200.00 - $250.00 USD or so.

Mike, as far as I know, the Can Tank Corps should only be a single. The Corps was created in 1918 to supply replacement troops to the Bn already in the field. If the soldier didn't serve in France and Flanders, he would only be entitled to the single BWM which would be named as this one is.

I have never seen a PAIR named to the CAN TANK CORPS, however I suspect there may be a couple done in error.

I am very very pleased with this little gem. This is one I can actually show my wife what I paid for it.

Remember Jeff, I told my wife what I paid for the MC group, just to piss her off....It seems it is still working.

Great buy Cliff, especially if it is the only medal he was entitled to. I hate to see medal sets that have been broken up.

If it were my medal I would keep the original ribbon, it does not look to bad and it is only original once.

Lol Cliff, your wife will be in that state of mind till she gets to cash in your collection, then she'll forgive you!
As for the Stetson trade, I'll think I'll pass lol.
Looks like you'll be waiting awhile for this guys service record too, that's too bad.
