Notice how it "bows" out from the middle. Has anyone ever come across one? Cheers

I am not going to guess at the Regiment with any certainty, however it looks likes one of our highland Regiments.

As for the bowing effect, this was quite a common modification. It was usually done by the soldier pressing the badge down around a stick like a broom handle. This information came to me by a Argyle Veteran. He explained that he used to put the badge in the palm of his hand then push it down over a broom handle until he got the desired effect.

I hope this is the information you were seeking. Of course this is an unofficial modification and you won't find the procedure in any of the Dress regulations.

"Doming" is not uncommon. Soldiers created a 3d look on their badges by taking something like a broom handle, shoe brush, or dowel (of the appropriate size) and pushing the centre of the badge out.
Nice image of a North Nova Scotia Highlander. The use of the camo scarf is intereting.
