Royal Canadian Mounted Police Wedge / Side / Field Service Cap

Good Evening Everyone......

Just thought I would post a picture on my latest find.....

As you know I am not really a badge collector so as far as I know this is authentic.....

It was purchased from an estate with a Stetson, Sam Brown and a couple of other odds and sods.....

I looked in the reference book, Uniforms of the Canadian Mounted Police by Boulton and it is mentioned there and a few photos but with a shinny badge and as you can see this is muted.....

The badge could be Figure 7-20 from Don Klancher's book on the insignia of the Canadian Mounted Police.....

Oh yes..... Inside there is a label Buffalo Cap, ????? "7" ?????, Winnipeg, 1942.

Very nice, this would be worn with the battle dress, there is a coloured wedge cap as well, for walking out or parade. The cap badge was probably the shiny type years ago, but has probably tarnshied with age, I woule leave it as is. Some of these capbadges had a maker stamp, usually Gaunt.
Are the buttons typical Canadian SWW or RCMP?

Yes the cap was worn with Battle Dress......

The badge is made out of Dark Metal, not unpolished, it was an experimental badge and not liked, very few made......  Then they went back

The buttons are standard Canadian Army buttons......
