Wireless Set No.58 Empty Wireless Set No.58

Post by PBorkowski Mon Jan 13, 2014 10:31 am

    Hi everyone.

Several months ago I bought WS No.58 in nice condition - but only transceiver, without battery pack, antenna, headphones etc. Now I try to complete the set and get some information about it (historical info rather then technical data - who used them, where, wartime photos etc.).

I found 2 (educational, I suppose) photos showing set in use - one with infantry soldier and one with sailor - but no photo showing how exactly it was mounted on soldier's chest or photo of the harness itself. I suppose that transceiver was mounted somehow on battery backpack's straps, with some kind of waist belt and some misterious string on the back...

    My questions:
    - does any forum member own this model?
    - could you help me with photos of harness?
    - do you have any historical info about this set?

    Thanks in advance,

    Przemek

I am having trouble uploading an image, but I am putting together a WS-58 set. So far I have acquired the following parts.
Working instructions  WS CDN. No.58 MK I 1 Apr 1943
    Battle battery case
    Satchel for battle battery
2 headsets, ear cups are perished but I can use one for a pattern.
    Telescope antenna NOS
    Aerial quiver
    Vibrator power supply
2 NOS Willard 20-2 battery's for vib power supply
All the valves nos for the radio plus the spares carried in the top of the vibrator pwr supply case.
Jones plugs to make the missing cables.
I still need the Radio itself preferably a MK I.
The carrying case for the vibrator pwr supply
    and the sectional antennas.

Amazing that you should have so many accessories and no radio itself.
