Latest Acquisitions

Good day all,

Here are the latest acquisitions from the Maritime Military Collectors Society show, held last Saturday in Truro, NS. Also included are shots of where they fit in my collection. I know, the Cote d'Ivoire para qual is not Canadian or Commonwealth, but was part of my buys, so I thought I'd throw it in. As they say, "A change is as good as a rest."

Looks like it was a nice show. Love the webbing display and the RCR lot!

Ypres

It was an okay show. I picked up a couple of PIAT rounds, 69 grenade, flight suit & helmet, some aircraft manuals...I think that's it.

Thanks Ypres. Glad you liked the RCR displays. I showed my Cdn. Infantry, Cdn. formations and Cdn. parachute collections, along with my sales tables. Didn't sell a damn thing AND...probably bought more than I should have. Oh well!!

Thanks. It's only half of my collection. The other half is my World Airborne collection, but as that is not Canadian, I don't show it on this forum. I have 25 riker trays holding the Canadian half of my collection.

Your collection is shaping up very nicely. I think you did quite well at the show. It is always a success when you add something nice.

I do like the burlap background you have chosen. I find it quite eye appealing.

Thanks Cliff. As I have explained in another post, I took the idea from another collector who had badges displayed in a magazine that I had purchased. I liked the idea and look so much that when I had enough Riker trays for my collection, I acquired some burlap as a tray backing. A lot of other people also seem to like the look. I vary the look of the trays by using different coloured material. Usually maroon or each nation's camoflage, in the case of my world airborne collection.

Does anyone know of a Canadian seller of Riker cases?

I had bought some about two years ago from the USA and the shipping cost was extreme.

The only place that I know of here in Calgary is Green's Rock and Lapidary Supply Ltd......

They have all different sizes and depths.....

I think Dave Hiorth at Military Antiques Toronto is carrying some riker cases. And Grant McKillop used (?) to deal in display cases. (He may be retired. He usually shows up at the Ottawa show but wasn't there in April. He may be at the CSMMI Show next week.)
