Not exactly sure .. - Looks like quite old Canadian Military Belt

Picked this up recently and unless the markings are misleading , it looks to be an old CDN made CDN military belt of some sort.  Chime in if anyone has any ideas about it.

Ed what is the difference between this belt and a Sam Browne belt?

One thing in particular, Sam Browne Belts don't use a snake buckle.

This belt is a modified 1899 and following this modification, as Ed stated, is a ptn 1915. The modification is the addition of an internal leather strap that would hold the shield shovel in place. I agree with Ed in that 99% of Sam Browne's do not have a snake clasp, although I have one in my collection which does have a snake buckle.

Thanks Ed. Believe it or not, I never even noticed that. I guess time for me to get glasses, or at the very least, start paying more attention to details.

The NWMP and RNWMP also used this pattern of belt, they also had a pattern with MP on the snake.
