Uniform Query

Here is a pics of my Grandfather(Center) and two of his buddies somewhere in Italy and dated Oct. 43. My question is about the uniform gramps is wearing. To me it looks like he is wearing KD trousers...same as the fellow in the foreground...and the khaki battle dress blouse except that it looks like he is wearing a tie or something around his neck. Could also be a shirt of some kind. Opinions? Does it look like the khaki cotton battle dress blouse? The blouse has 1st Div. and RCEME patches that were probably added in 1944...well after this pic was taken. I can't see any patches in this photo. I'll supply pics of it when I get it in hand.



Also, can anyone ID what they are standing around?

My Grandmother recently informed me that his KD jacket was patched in the late 50's for a reunion...not during the war like I thought. His serge BD didn't fit him properly so he went to the next best thing I guess.
