    COTC Badge Empty COTC Badge

Post by Ian B Mon Sep 24, 2018 1:36 pm

    Good day all,

Picked this badge up recently. Looking for any information other than that it is a COTC badge. It is embroidered with thread through white felt and the white cotton backing.

What does "OAVC" stand for? Google Translate doesn't give a phrase for COTC that corresponds to those letters.

Age? Which Contingent? Any information appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ian

    Thanks Ypres,

Did a search online. Seems as though the Ontario Agricultural College and the Ontario Veterinary College are two to the three schools that make up the University of Guelph.

The search also states that the University Chapel has Memorial tablets with the names of alumni who gave their lives in both World Wars.

So, I'm thinking that the badge is for the contingent raised by both colleges, Agricultural and Veterinary.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ian

Ontario Agricultural & Veterinary College COTC Contingent, Guelph, ON. A 2-metal cap badge of this shape was taken into wear after 1 Feb 1957. Depending on size, this may be a blazer crest or a crest for a shirt/jacket etc. Later renamed University of Guelph.
