That's a remarkable find and congratulations for keeping it in Calgary. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to realize the world beyond the dry log entries. From the Wellington types that were flown, this officer clearly spent time in Coastal Command and flying those overloaded aircraft in all sorts of weather and ocean conditions would have been an extremely dangerous and stressful duty. The fatalities from the flying alone would shock anyone looking closely at them today. And then there was the enemy action ... And he did it 57 times. Clearly competent as well as lucky.

WOW, quite the group for sure. Interesting with such an outstanding group to a Canadian, that he never mounted them to wear. Surly wearing this group he would have attracted a lot of attention at any event or ceremony. Possibly he wished to avoid such recognition.

Good to hear you will not be mounting these, but rather leaving them as he did, in their original boxes. This group is way outside my collecting theme, but certainly would not pass on it.
