I recently picked up an interesting Canadian battledress blouse and thought I would share. Sadly most of the markings are gone but the Board C arrow make is still visable. It appers to my untrained eye to be a tailored officers BD with British button on the shoulder flaps. also it has had three hole made under each armpit, any opinions why? There is evidence of two rank pips on each shoulder and regimental or corps flashes and formation signs on the sleves.

The holes in the armpits are normal and are for ventilation. The buttons on the shoulders are Canadian and normal for early war tunics. A "normal" tunic aside from the tailor altered collar.

Pick yourself up a copy of Uniforms of the WWII Tommy by David Gordon. An excellent reference book, mine is so worn out from use, pages are falling out. I used to take it with me when I went on the hunt in antiques stores and flea markets. It explains all the variations in uniforms for both British and Canadian.
