canteen water bottle carrier Empty Leather Equipment

Post by edstorey Sun Oct 12, 2014 7:31 am

Time for you to buy some reference books. These are very basic questions on items that you should be able to identify before you buy them.

canteen water bottle carrier Empty Militaria 101

Post by edstorey Sun Oct 12, 2014 8:26 am

    Militaria 101

    1. Buy references first, spend money on stuff second.

    2. If you do not know what it is, then do not buy it.

    3. Speculators vacuum up everything military that is for sale in the hope that 'it will be worth money', collectors selectively purchase items that they know will fill their collection.

You will never learn these lessons if you continue to keep posting your finds to a forum in the hope that the forum members will identify them for you. More importantly you leave yourself open to loose a lot of money by purchasing things that you do not know what they are.

    Your Homework

Research what you bought and come back and let this forum know what you have. From this you will learn more and be a much better informed collector.

Gate, do me a favour please... when you get this identified, please let me know. I have no idea about these leather things. I have a pretty good grasp on the web kit but not this leather at all.

There are many books out there that will assist you a great deal depending on your interests. Along with the Tommy books mentioned by Haplo here are some others that you will find very helpful.
Bear in mind that even though Ed Storey may be a bit blunt at times he is 100% right about getting books and other reference material. Once you have them they will be used a lot.

    Tangled Web by Jack Summers
The Canadian Soldier 1944-45 by Jean Bouchery
    Tin Lids by Roger Lucy
    37 Web by Ed Storey
Regimental Numbers of the Canadian Army by Clive Law

Service Publications has many books that refer to Canadian equipment and are well worth the look.
    Best of luck.

Well I an knee deep in my own research, but needed a break so I looked into this a bit. Here is what I found in the Queensland Companies Registration Directories....

Company; Bonney & Clark Pty Limited
    Date of Registration; 23/10/1925
    File Number; 136
    Year of Registration; 1925

Here is the link to the Archives records.
