Anybody get this helmet that sold a few days ago on ebay? Sold for just over $400.

I spotted it on Ebay, but I have my doubts. It is totally unlike any C Scot R helmet I have ever seen. The ones that I have seen all had the insignia applied very clearly, instead of quite rough, as this one has. Secondly, I have never heard of any Can Scots applying the insignia in the field. Now ofcourse this could have happened, but I would only trust this helmet if it had iron-clad provenance.

I didn't like the looks of the formation sign and the helmet would have sold for a great deal more if it had been original.

I agree. It doesn't strike me as being an original paint!

Here's how a Can Scot MkIII should look like. This one was worn by a Can Scot on D Day, and saved his life. You can see where shrapnel damaged the helmet.
