I recently acquired this helmet through a long time friend who's Grandfather served in the same RCEME Workshop as my Grandfather for a while. Me and my friend used to play war with this very same helmet when we were young. My mother has a picture somewhere of us wearing it while playing in the seventies...still haven't found the damn picture since it is somewhere in about a thousand or more loose family photos my mother has in about ten different plastic containers. Someday either me or her will find it.

Re: RCEME Mk.II
Just to clarify, my Grandfather and Mr. Bagnall(the one who owned this helmet) both served with 1 Division, 3 Brigade Infantry Workshops. Mr Bagnall was sent home due to facial injuries sustained in Italy in 1944...not sure how he got the helmet home. The Bagnall's have been long-time family friends.
