C2 Ruck Frame Empty C2 Ruck Frame

    Post by mk1rceme Wed Mar 28, 2012 4:02 pm

Collecting has been slow lately, but I did manage to find this frame for a more than fair price. Looks like it was barely used, and the straps are a definite plus.

Now the hunt continues for a 64 pattern rucksack. I see St. Albert Surplus has a few un-issued ones...but the price! Ouch!

Ya, that's a good find. Those are in big demand still by serving members. Not many people are using the issue bag though. The original issue bags are extremely difficult to find and even harder to find in good condition as the rubberized material degrades and most that you will find have dry rotted and are brown in color (the original color is green) and will tear very easily. They did issue a bag made of 82 pattern type material for use by parachutists since the 82 pattern ruck is all but useless for jumpers since they broke on impact with the ground during a jump. I might still have one of these bags in my garage and will let you know if I find it.

    Sounds good Steve! Thanks!

I was going to doll this frame out with a modern Molle rucksack like the stuff Drop Zone Tactical offers, but holy hell is that kit pricey!

    Hi Dale
The following was posted today on Airsoft Canada, it's from Edmonton:

"for sale is my 64 pattern ruck in very good condition this was issued to my dad in 1974 and saw 2 tours in the Golan heights (Israel) with the UN. this is od green with everything intact. asking $150 or trade for a newer pack in od or tan EMT only buyer pays shipping"

If you're interested, I could get you the selers e-mail addy. If you're not then it's ok.

Thanks for the heads up Bob, but I'll have to pass for the time being. I bought this frame for $25 so I'm not very deep into it yet. Even if I find an issue pack I should still be well under $150...I'm hoping at least.

    Hi Dale

    Nice frame and strapping.

I have had a C2 (or "Jump") Ruck since 1987 and still use one. While it is getting harder to get parts, mine is complete as per the way I like it and have a few spares around. I have the 82 Pattern material bag for mine that Infanteer is speaking of and use the 82 pat Yoke as well, since the shoulder straps have the quick release. I'm not after originality but rather function and comfort. The youngsters refuse to believe that I can get all they have in their modern monstrosity into my l'il ole thang!!........until I show them!!

Let me dig around in my tickle trunk and see what I can send you. I may, repeat may, have an older version of the bag.

    Wait, out.

    regards
    Darrell

    Thanks Darrell, let me know.

I am kind of anxious to test it out this spring/summer. I have been using a medium Alice pack for many years and like it a lot, but I am patriotic so a Canadian pack is in order for the hiking trails.

I have a frame very similar to this kicking around the basement of my fathers place. I do not think mine has any webbing, straps or anything on it. I should really dig it out sometime. Also some place down there, I have what I think is an older fiberglass radio box? I always thought the two went togeher, Maybe I need to rethink that idea.

C2 Ruck Frame Empty 64 pattern ruck

I have a bag full of assorted straps if anyone is interested.
$30.00 should work or trade for badges and flashes from WW2.

    Hi Dale

Still need a bag? It's a bit wrinkled but otherwise OK. A few hours in the sun and some items in it will smooth it out. There appears to be a small hole in the bottom but a large piece of gun tape covering it.

I'm looking for a couple of frames too. I have a used bag. Look for something minty.

Just found the motherload of C2 frames...I have 9 of them inbound. All NOS and welded instead of pop-riveted. Kind of overkill, but I couldn't pass up the selling price.

Do they have all the straps and belts? If you consider parting with any, let me know.

C2 Ruck Frame Empty C2 rucksack

Post by ocdserver Thu Mar 23, 2017 8:57 pm

    Hi,
That is a great price on the frame.  I have a number including one that has a NSN stamped on it.  The original brackets for the straps were removed and replaced by a "wheel" type bracket.
The original packs were C1's.  The frame is the same, but the bag is nylon similar to the US lightweight rucksack.  Next, the C2 with rubberized bag.  I fellow I know in our group explained that the early bags were not waterproof so they switched to the rubber bags.  The disadvantage being the rubber cracks where the folds are when they are stored.
I can post some photos if you like.  One of the frames also has a different green coloured paint.  The rucksack for the PRC-515 looks like a bigger version of the C2.

I have a 64 Pattern Jump Ruck for sale if anyone is interested. Straps are in good shape, the rest of the fabric is starting to deteriorate and will probably need replacing if you intend to use it. The frame itself is in perfect functional condition.
