64 Pattern Ruck Build Empty 64 Pattern Ruck Build

Post by RomeoSierra Sat Sep 21, 2019 8:55 pm

Hey there. I'm excited to be a new member of this forum. I am doing a build up of a full Canadian Forces 1964 pattern ruck with sleep system.
If anyone has any info on sources for straps and bits for these iconic pieces of kit please post it here.
I currently have seven rubberized main bags.
    Looking for:
    shoulder straps
    utility straps
    back and kidney straps
    frames
    Any information would be great.

The trick is to find a frame with everything on it. 2 thumbs up Good bags are harder to find, so if you have them, you're ahead of the game.
I don't have a frame right now, but someone here may have a lead. I might have a few extra straps laying around though.

I have a bag here but dont know what model it is, dont know much about them. Depending where you are it may not be worthwhile to ship. Cheers Brian

    Hello,
I gather you are referring to the C2 rucksack and frame?  When you say rubberized bags, are you referring to the C2 bag?
I am not sure what the sleeping bag system is.  The sleeping bag was usually strapped to the top of the rucksack.
Do you have photos of what you are trying to achieve?
If not, I have posted photos of complete  C2 nylon and rubber bagged sets on this site.
    Regards,
    Ian

You need the manual: Arctic and Sub Arctic Operations Part 1. Basic Cold Weather Training (CFP 302(2), Pt 1). It has the instructions on how to assemble and use the C2 Rucksack. If you want something a little latter, it was not uncommon to use the 82 pattern rucksack harness and back pad on the 64 pattern ruck. That is still what I use.

64 Pattern Ruck Build Empty C2 rucksack manual

A very useful post.  I have this manual and used it to assemble my sets until I acquired a complete C2 rucskasck and found the assemble was different.  What I found interesting, is in the list of equipments  the bag is listed as nylon.  The manual is dated 1974 with a 1982 update  but one of my rubber bags is dated 1975.

    Ian
