Here is one for you folks that collect 64 Patt gear, a small pack made in the style of the 37 and 51 patt small pack. Having been issued the 64 patt web back in the day, I have never seen this in use, and is a mystery how it would attach to the web belt and yoke, probably just used with the shoulder starp as an officers piece of kit, its faintly marked 1977.

1951 Pattern Haversack
It is a late production 1951 Pattern Haversack and is not part of the 1964 Pattern.

Re: Unusual 64 pattern small pack
Then why does it have 64 patt plastic buckles, 64 patt straps, 64 patt canvas and is marked 1977?

Re: Unusual 64 pattern small pack
We were issued the large pack version of those when I went through basic training in Cornwallis in 1990. They were for carrying our PT gear. Lots of good memories of those packs and the highly regimented PT classes we took part in. "With a jump, right... turn" "If you're done pack your buddy's PT pack!"

Steve, were you also issued the large 64 patt pack with the mesh back? The one that had two compartments.

No, I wasn't. 82 pattern equipment was standard issue by the time I joined.

odd 64 Pattern rucksack
Hi,
This is a late production 51 Pattern rucksack. The later items had plastic buckles and hardware. I also have a radio bag with plastic hardware. On the back of the bag you will find the short top straps to attach the L straps.
