This battledress is marked Canadian and dated in the ww2 era, everything about it seems normal until i look at the patches. Im i wrong in thinking these are British?

They are British patches. After the war ended the Canadian army left thousands of unissued BD's behind. They were absorbed into British stores and were issued to the British units after the end of the war and well into the 1950's.

If it is a wartime dated battledress, it is not very strange either. The Canadian BD's were considered to be of better quality and cut as opposed to the British made ones. If one could get a hold of a Canadian battledress, these would often be favoured over the British model.
